Software installation

Q. How do I install a Logilangue program?
A. You only have to copy the directory onto your hard disk at the spot that suits you best.

Sound

Q. I cannot hear the text or sentences.
A. First check whether your headphones or speakers are properly connected. Then check your computer’s volume setting.

Password

Q. Can I copy and paste my password when a program asks me to enter it?
A. No. You have to type it in one character at a time remembering also that the password is case-sensitive.

Q. If I install a new version of a Logilangue program, do I have to input a new, different password?
A. Not at all. The password assigned to you is linked to you, the user, and not to the program’s version.

Q. What do I do if I lose or forget my password?
A. Send an e-mail message to address info@logilangue.com from the e-mail address under which you registered.

Q. My password was rejected. Why?
A. Either you made a typing error in inputting your password or you no longer have any valid password. Check your subscription period.

Downloading

Q. Downloading takes up a lot of time before the process finishes. Why is it that slow?
A. Your Internet access may be too slow. A high-speed access is always preferable. Sometimes, Internet access can also be slower at certain hours or in certain periods of the day.

Accented letters

Q. Am I required to use the virtual keyboard to enter accented letters?
A. Not at all. You can use your computer’s physical keyboard.

A. We can redo any quiz as many times as we wish.

Q. Can we turn off sound?
A. You do it with the speaker button.

Q. Can I stop answers moving?
A. No, you can't. This feature is part of the program. That way, you learn.

Q. Can we open clicGrammaire before we start a quiz?
A. You can do it anytime.

Q. Does ciclJeux writes a report?
A. ClicJeux writes a report for each player. You can find the reports in the CUEILLETTE folder.

A. Just consult the last report. You can access the report by clicking on the icon showing a pencil on a notepad.

Q. Can I maintain two personal lists?
A. No. When you create a new list, the previous personal list gets deleted.

Q. When I select MY DIFFICULTIES (MES DIFFICULTÉS), certain words keep coming back every time. Why?
A. When you work on your weaknesses and difficulties, the words or sentences you get right the first time are taken out of the list; the others stay in.

Q. Where or on what do I click to begin work on a given text for the first time?
A. When the download process has finished, click on the icon that shows a head wearing headphones.

Q. How many times will I be able to listen to the text?
A. Four times: once when the text displays for the first time, and three more times, as necessary.

Q. How many words can I try at the same time?
A. You cannot try more than one word at a time.

Q. Do I have to type upper-case letters?
A. It is not necessary.

Q. Do I have to type the hyphens in composite words?
A. Yes, you have to type both the individual words and the hyphens in composite words (e.g.: coffre-fort).

Q. Do I have to type the single quotes (apostrophes)?
A. Yes, you have to type the words with the single quotes they contain (e.g.: l'autobus).

Q. Why is a bullet chain displayed in green?
A. This happens when you type a word with the same pronunciation as that of the word hidden behind the green bullet chain.

Q. Why does a word I typed get displayed with one or more red bullets?
A. Because the word is incomplete: one or more letters is(are) missing.

Q. Can I type only the missing letter in a word?
A. No. You have to retype the entire word.

Q. What can I do if I can no longer hear the text and have not found all the words?

Q. If I do not have enough time to complete a given text before exiting À MOTS COUVERTS, will I have to start all the work over again?
A. You will continue from exactly where you left off in the text. When you exit or change texts, the program assembles a status report.

Q. Can I go again over a text I already entirely completed?
A. You can go over it again as many times as you like. You only have to select its title under the list and confirm your selection.

Q. New text titles have appeared. Why?
A. a regular basis, Logilangue installs new texts, to which you have access all through your subscription until it expires.

Q. Are there any tips and tricks to enhance memorization?
A. Here are a few tricks to jog your memory:

  1. when you listen to the text, pretend you are making a movie of it in your head and memorize the story;
  2. type the first words concerning the text that come to mind;
  3. type all the little connecting words occurring often in French (le, la, les, un, une, des, à, par, pour, etc.);
  4. try out the words in the text title;
  5. never reject any word because you “doubt,” or do not think, it is in the text: it costs nothing to try;
  6. keep at least one playback in reserve for the last few words to search;
  7. make hypotheses based only on the words you have already found;
  8. when a bullet chain is displayed in green, it is because you have typed a homophone; hold that word fast and make sure you find it;
  9. when a word contains a red bullet, a letter is missing; often, it is a plural S or a feminine E;
  10. when you have only one playback left, you can uncover letters by clicking on the bullets, but then you lose one token for every letter you so uncover.

Q. How do I correct one word in the text?
A. Click on the word you want to correct; the system then copies that word into the rectangle under the text. This is where you modify it. Once that is done, click on the icon that shows a hand holding a pencil, or press the Return or Enter key.

Q. What do I do when I have clicked on a word that I no longer want to correct?
A. Do nothing. Click on the next word you wish to correct.

Q. How many tries am I entitled to for correcting an entire text?
A. You have at most three attempts. After the second try, all words to be corrected appear in bold characters.

Q. happens if I could not correct all words after three attempts?
A. You will then see the correction key for this text.

Q. Could it ever happen that I would have to replace a word in the text?
A. Yes. This happens in the case of an improper connotation or an anglicism.

Q. Do I take upper-case letters into account?
A. Absolutely, as this kind of error might very well have slipped into the text.

Q. How do I re-correct a word that I already modified?
A. Click on that word and proceed as you would normally.
